Claypots || Seasoning without traditional oven || Cleaning & Maintanance
I had seen my grandma and my mom using claypots from my childhood onwards. My mom used to pack those fragile mud vessels or mud pots or clay pots in the luggage, covering with my brother’s jeans cloths making it as secure as possible. I don’t think she had ever made us feel soo secure,… haha, jokes apart. Never knew the reasons behind it. If these were easily breakable, why carry it that long way.
Once I started cooking on my own, I never got the exact taste of food like how my mom used to prepare. Mom’s food can never be replaced however executive chef you are, which is a real fact. But still, I wondered. Then when I used to visit my mom in Qatar, she still used her old pots to prepare food specially fish curry.
So that way I had bought once and asked her to pack for me when we both were in Kerala for our holidays. I think I have even show in one of my video how to pack claypot. So that’s how you should be packing, or else you heart will be literally be broken when you open that suitcase at your destination.
Once you start cooking in claypots, you will know why people use it widely in the most healthiest way of cooking.
Food will be too delicious, but only if you season it well. To know the traditional method, please click paworld.info/face/v/lqxpmZCrmWupf6Q ,
For those who doesn’t have a traditional oven specially who live abroad or a flat life like how we live now in Riyadh, this video will help you a lot.
In here though I have said that you can season on a gas stove, only later realized, I haven’t used the stove at all for seasoning. But if you are using a Clay pot that you’ll be cooking food in it, after taking out from the rice starchy water, clean well, let it get dry overnight or below sunlight. You can even dry on in low heat over the stove, but prefer the other way. Once completely dry, apply some cooking oil and spread over the pot. Keep as such for 1 day, wash it next day and then you can start cooking it in.
I used gram flour or besan for cleaning. You may even add rice flour instead. Salt is optional.
